Easy Hanukkah Craft
I’m sure your kids are as excited as mine are about the up and coming holidays. Every year I set aside the effort to do a special occasion craft with my children. Here are two that we appreciated in the past.
You’ll require: a plate or substantial cardboard, light cardboard, a level cake, foil, lots of white frosting, a pencil and scissors, 3 huge marshmallows, small, round colorful candies, a small candy stick, 3 cone shaped (sugar) frozen custards, solid color candy sticks, Life Savers, and gumdrops (especially yellow and green), small plastic figures of people (discretionary). Locate a huge plate or spread an overwhelming bit of cardboard with foil. Make an enormous, level cake to put on it. Have your child draw and cut out a wavy hover from cardboard around 1/3 the size of the cake. Spread it with foil, shiny side up and place it in the cake. This is the occasion lake. Help your child frost all around the lake and down the sides of the cake with store-purchased or hand crafted white frosting. Make it rolling so it looks like snow. Put a couple of spots of frosting on the “lake.” Use 3 enormous marshmallows to make a snowman. They can be stuck together with frosting. Use small candies for eyes, mouth, and buttons. Give him a candy stick to hold. Put him close to one end of the cake. Frost 3 sugar frozen custards with green-tinted frosting. Put them upside down at the opposite end of the cake for trees. Set on the right track, candy sticks (solid color ones) into life savers (for a base) and scatter them around the cake for lights. Put yellow gumdrops on top for the lights. Use green gumdrops for bushes. Include plastic figures of people in the snow and on the lake.
